Bayer Leverkusen and Porto will face each other in a first leg from the 1/16-finals of Europa League

Bayer Leverkusen and Porto will face each other at the BayArena on Thursday in a first leg from the 1/16-finals of Europa League. Our Europa League predictions for this game are about to follow.

Bayer Leverkusen won Group A with 13 points, finishing this phase of the competition with four wins, one draw and one defeat. The German side didn’t dissapoint and proved its status of a favourite. Leverkusen’s only defeat in the group came against during the team’s visit to Zurich. It was when the now sacked Heiko Herrlich was managing the team.

We can say Bayer Leverkusen are in a solid shape at the moment. Peter Bosz’ team won six of its last seven matches in all competitions, which is a really nice achievement. It’s safe to make the conclusion that the team improved since the sacking of Herrlich and the arrival of the experienced head coach Peter Bosz. Few days ago Leverkusen visited Union Berlin in the capital and achieved a 3-2 win.

Porto also played in the group stage of Europa League, although usually they are playing in the Champions League. The Dragons won their group with 10 points, leaving Rangers, Young Boys and Feyenoord behind. The team won three times in the group, lost twice and made one draw. They could have done a little better, for sure.

Porto are in a strong shape right now. The Portuguese giants won their last four matches in the Primeira Liga, moving on just a point behind the leader Benfica. On Sunday the Dragons visited Vitoria Guimaraes and celebrated a 2-1 win. Vitoria’s Douglas Jesus scored himself an own goal, while Moussa Marega scored the second one for Porto.

These are our Europa League predictions for the 1/16-finals first leg between Bayer Leverkusen and Porto. Two great European powerhouses are facing each other at the Bay Arena. It’s going to be a great game!
